Let this holiday season be the one when you host the neighborhood Christmas party. Send out invitations early so that people have time to R.S.V.P. We want the party to be a success. You can stay in the kitchen and prepare food if you invite more people. If you're throwing a larger party, ask your guests to bring their own foods or drinks that can be shared, thus creating a sort of potluck affair.
Parties are mostly delicious finger foods surrounded by people standing around. You should not plan your party around your menu. Certainly you should never scrimp on the goodies, but do allow the food - and most particularly the
homemade desserts - put the finishing touch on the perfect day.
Come up with a dessert menu prior to this (yes, we will have that many desserts!), you should know who will be at your Christmas party. People with various food allergies will have to be careful when eating your scrumptious sweets. For example, someone who is allergic to peanuts or nuts in general will have to be careful. Be wary of the fact that many desserts contain nuts or may have been processed in environments that contain nuts.
For allergic folks, omit the nuts and add some dried or fresh fruits to your desserts. It is rare for someone to have a chocolate allergy but it does occur. An entirely new menu might be necessary. Thus, people won't suffer from any allergies except, of course, to having a bad time.
Christmas party snacks include cupcakes, brownies, hard candy, muffins, chocolate, and cookie bars. Cookie bars are a great option because they are adaptable to a lower fat version. Lemon bars are low in fat and a light snack. Pumpkin bars are for both Holidays, Christmas or Thanksgiving.
Eggnog is a traditional Christmas drink. Christmastime desserts can be gussied up with this dairy drink. Transform an ordinary recipe into an eggnog cheesecake and delight people who love that beverage. Eggnog, in its original form, has eggs in it, but you can buy it with some of the ingredients left out if you have allergies or a special diet.
Consider the types of desserts you can please your friends and family with at the next party. You should serve a large variety of sweets so that everyone finds something that they will enjoy. Use the festive celebration as a way of getting people to try new sweets or put a twist on the old ones.
